Veronica, Damian and I go way back.
Damian and I became friends in highschool through a youth group which Veronica joined a few years later, and the rest in history. Definitely a long history with so many details and turns and changes but I’ll give you the brief summary.
Veronica and Damian were always those people who everyone looked at and were like, WHY AREN’T THEY TOGETHER?!?! It never made sense to any of our friends how 2 people were obviously made for one another but could not figure that out on their own. There were many “seasons” as they like to call it of their relationship – the “we’re just friends” season, the “we’re dating other people but still hangout in groups” season, the “let’s try dating” season, the “we don’t talk at all” season, and everyone’s favourite “they’re finally together forever” season.
How do you ask someone out who you already have history with to not make it weird? Well, you make it an inconspicuous coffee meet up to ask their opinion about your brand new mixtape. After months of no contact, Damian reached out to Veronica to ask her genuine opinion of his latest mixtape, as he is a spoken word connoisseur from his young days strutting the hood of Pickering. When they met up he even had a fake beat ready and dropped THE most dad joke of all time by whipping out a bag of trail mix and dropping it on the table and re-asking her out on a real date. Cut to their wedding day (which you’ll see when you scroll down) she finally received that promised mixtape bringing his longest running dad joke to a close. At this point, when she opened this gift both Veronica and I were weeping and it was barely the beginning of the day – we were in for a very emotional day.
Christ has truly been the foundation of their relationship, all the way back to when they were beginning their friendship. It has been a beautiful thing to watch their love and admiration grow for one another over the many years we have been in each other’s lives and I am so so SO excited to see what else the Lord has in store for their lives.
